Juicepage is a place to share work, find readers and receive thoughtful feedback. We welcome novels, novellas, short stories, poetry, memoir, biography, essays, non-fiction, scripts, comics, graphic novels, illustrated and experimental work, extracts from longer works, and work that does not fit an established genre.
1. Choose a short sample
Give readers enough to understand your work and respond to it. Around 10–20 pages of a novel or novella, or two or three poems, is usually enough. For flash fiction, comics and other short or visual work, use your judgement. If your work is only 50 words long or a single page, you may submit the whole thing, if you like.
2. Prepare your EPUB
Submit one EPUB file. We do not accept PDF or DOCX. If you need help, follow our step-by-step guide about how to convert your work to EPUB from DOCX or PDF.
Once converted, open the finished EPUB and check that:
- the text is readable and any images display clearly;
- pages and sections are in the right order, with nothing missing;
- spelling, punctuation, paragraph spacing and line breaks are as you intend;
- tracked changes, comments and private notes have been removed; and
- it contains no personal information you do not want published.
Double spacing is not required. Keep your own copy of the file: Juicepage is not a storage or backup service.
3. Add a cover image
A separate cover image is optional, but we strongly recommend one. It helps your work stand out and gives readers an immediate sense of its subject, genre or atmosphere.
You must have permission to publish the images, lettering and other elements you use. Do not use protected characters, logos, photographs or artwork without permission. If you use an AI image tool, check its terms and do not ask it to copy a living artist’s work or an existing book cover. You are responsible for ensuring Juicepage can display your cover.
Use a portrait-format JPG or PNG that remains clear as a small thumbnail. Include the title if possible. You do not need to pay a designer: a simple image can work well.
If you have zero image skills, you may want to turn to AI to create your cover. For example, a simple AI prompt might be: “Create a portrait cover for a literary mystery called The Quiet Harbour. Show an empty harbour at dusk with one illuminated window. Use dark blue and faded yellow. Make the title large and easy to read. Do not include an author name or imitate an existing cover.”
4. Choose your feedback option
Anyone can read and comment on a published sample. The option you choose determines the feedback Juicepage arranges:
- £5 — Community exchange: As long as you give useful feedback of at least 100 words on two other authors’ assigned samples within 30 days, you’ll receive two responses of at least 100 words on your own sample from other Juicepage users.
- £20 — Feedback only: Receive two responses of at least 100 words from other Juicepage users without having to review other samples.
- £40 — Juicepage review: Receive two reader responses of at least 100 words, plus a review of up to 300 words from a Juicepage editor. You will not need to review anybody else’s work to get your feedback.
Earn additional feedback
Once you have completed any feedback required by your package, you can give feedback on two more authors’ assigned samples to earn one guaranteed, additional response on your own sample. Each response you give must be at least 100 words, pass basic quality checks and be approved. Your Author Dashboard shows your progress.
Editor review
The editor’s review considers the sample’s strengths, reader engagement and potential. It is not a manuscript edit, proofread or publishing assessment.
5. Help readers understand your work
Write a tagline of up to 25 words that captures the central character, situation, conflict or idea of your work. Keep the tagline specific and true to your work’s tone; avoid exaggerated claims and spoilers.
You may also add a description of up to 120 words for your work’s individual web page. Explain what the work is about and, where useful, its genre, form or central question. For poetry, visual or experimental work, describe its form, themes or approach rather than forcing a plot summary.
Select up to five feedback priorities—for example, pace, character, plot, dialogue, writing quality or reader engagement. You can also ask readers a specific question. These appear on your sample page to encourage useful feedback, but readers do not have to address every point. Humans don’t respond as well to prompts as AI…
6. Check and submit
Before paying, check the title, author name, tagline, description, cover, EPUB and feedback choices. Juicepage does not proofread, format, edit or fact-check submissions. Your work is presented substantially as you provide it.
You retain ownership of your work. You must have the rights and permissions needed to publish the writing, images, illustrations, quotations and other material you submit. Read our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy before submitting.
After a successful submission and payment, we’ll email you a confirmation. If you’re a new author, it will include a secure link to set your password for your account and Author Dashboard.
Author Dashboard
Your Author Dashboard lets you monitor activity and update your sample file, cover, title, description, feedback priorities and other listing information. Changes to published work are reviewed before they go live and must continue to meet our guidelines and terms.
