Convert your Word sample to EPUB
EPUB lets readers change the text size. The number of pages and layout may differ from your Word document.
Prepare your sample
Before converting:
- Remove headers, footers, page numbers and unwanted blank pages.
- Use Normal style for body text and Heading 1 for chapter headings.
- Use page breaks between chapters.
- Avoid text boxes, columns and repeated spaces or blank lines.
- Keep your JPG cover separate from the document.
Your cover should be a portrait image with the title and author name.
On a laptop or desktop: use Calibre
- Download and install Calibre.
- Open Calibre, select Add books and choose your DOCX file.
- Select the book, then Edit metadata. Enter the title and author, add your JPG cover and select OK.
- Select Convert books and choose EPUB as the output format. Leave the other settings at their defaults and select OK.
- When conversion finishes, open the EPUB in Calibre to check it.
- Open the menu beside Save to disk, select Save single format to disk and choose EPUB.
- Save the file and upload it to Juicepage.
On an iPhone or iPad: use Pages
- Open your DOCX file in Pages.
- Tap the More button (…) and select Export, then EPUB.
- Enter the title and author.
- Choose your JPG image as the cover and select Reflowable for the layout.
- Tap Export, then Save to Files.
- Open the EPUB in Apple Books to check it, then upload it to Juicepage from Files.
On Android: use an online converter
You can use Online-Convert in your phone’s browser.
Warning: online converters upload your manuscript to a third-party service. Check its privacy and file-deletion policy before using it, especially for unpublished or sensitive work.
- Open the converter and upload your DOCX file.
- Start the conversion.
- Download the EPUB to your phone.
- Open it in an EPUB reading app to check it.
- Upload the EPUB to Juicepage.
You do not need to add your cover image to your EPUB no matter how you convert to an EPUB. Juicepage will add your cover image to your EPUB for you.
