Privacy policy
1. About this policy
This privacy policy explains how Juicepage collects and uses personal information when you visit or use juicepage.org, create an account, submit work, make a payment, leave a comment, report content or contact us.
For data-protection purposes, Juicepage is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

2. Information we collect
We may collect:
● your name, display name, username and email address
● account information and login records
● information you provide about yourself or your work, including an author name, biography, title, description, categories and uploaded files
● comments, feedback, reports, messages and correspondence
● payment and transaction information, including the amount paid, payment status, transaction reference and billing information supplied through our payment provider
● technical information such as your IP address, device and browser information, cookie identifiers, timestamps, referring pages and activity logs
● records showing when you accepted our Terms and Conditions, including the version accepted and, where appropriate, the date, time and IP address
● information needed to investigate suspected infringement, unlawful content, misuse, security incidents, complaints or disputes
Please do not include unnecessary personal or sensitive information in a submission, comment, report or message. Uploaded writing may itself contain personal information. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to include information about other identifiable people in material you submit.
Juicepage does not receive or store your complete payment card details. These are handled by our payment provider.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
● create and manage accounts
● accept, process and publish submissions
● take payments and keep transaction records
● display author information, samples and comments
● provide downloads and other website functions
● send service messages, including submission, payment, publication, moderation and account emails
● answer enquiries and provide support
● receive and investigate reports, complaints and takedown requests
● moderate content and enforce our Terms and Conditions
● prevent spam, fraud, duplicate reports, abuse and security threats
● maintain, troubleshoot and improve the website
● meet legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations
● establish, exercise or defend legal claims
We will not use personal information submitted for these purposes to send marketing emails unless you have separately agreed to receive them or another lawful basis applies. You can opt out of marketing at any time.
4. Our lawful bases
Depending on the purpose, we rely on:
● Contract: when processing is necessary to create your account, accept and publish your submission, process a payment, provide the service or respond to a request made before entering a contract.
● Legal obligation: when we need to retain financial records, respond to lawful requests or meet another legal requirement.
● Legitimate interests: when operating and securing Juicepage, preventing misuse, moderating content, handling reports, improving the service, keeping appropriate records and protecting the rights of Juicepage, its users and others. We consider whether these interests are overridden by your rights.
● Consent: where consent is required, including for non-essential cookies or particular marketing communications. You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
If we need to process special-category or criminal-offence information, we will only do so where an additional legal condition applies. Users should not deliberately submit this type of information unless it is necessary.
5. Information made public
Information intended for publication may be visible to anyone and may appear in search-engine results. This can include:
● your author or display name
● the title, description, categories, cover image and sample you submit
● comments and feedback you post
Do not publish information you want to keep private. Removing material from Juicepage may not immediately remove copies held by search engines, archives or people who previously downloaded it.
Your email address, payment information, IP address and private correspondence will not normally be displayed publicly.
6. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe or another payment provider identified at checkout. The payment provider processes payment information under its own privacy policy and may use information for payment processing, fraud prevention and legal compliance.
Juicepage receives limited transaction information needed to confirm payment, provide the service, issue refunds where appropriate, maintain accounts and deal with disputes. Juicepage does not control every use the payment provider makes of information as an independent controller.
7. Who we share information with
We may share personal information with:
● website hosting, storage, email, security, backup, analytics and technical-support providers
● payment processors
● professional advisers, insurers, auditors and accountants where necessary
● people who submit a credible complaint, or their representatives, where disclosure is necessary and lawful
● courts, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or public authorities where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety or security
● a buyer, seller or adviser involved in a proposed sale, restructuring or transfer of Juicepage, subject to appropriate safeguards
WordPress, Easy Digital Downloads, Contact Form 7 and wpDiscuz may be used to provide website functions. Information processed through these tools is held within, or connected to, Juicepage’s website systems unless a separate external service is identified.
We do not sell personal information.
8. International transfers
Some suppliers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we will use a lawful transfer mechanism where required, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to approved standard contractual clauses, together with any appropriate supplementary safeguards.
9. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary. Our usual retention approach is:
● account information: while the account remains active and generally for up to 30 days after deletion, except for information we need to retain
● published submissions and public comments: until they are removed by the user or Juicepage, subject to backups and necessary records
● unsuccessful or abandoned submission files: generally deleted within 90 days
● payment, refund, tax and accounting records: generally retained for 6 years
● acceptance records, complaints, moderation decisions, reports and evidence relevant to disputes: generally retained for up to 6 years after the matter closes
● routine security and technical logs: generally retained for up to 12 months, unless needed for an investigation
● support correspondence: generally retained for up to 3 years after the matter closes
● backups: retained on a rolling basis and overwritten in accordance with our backup schedule
We may keep information for longer where required by law, needed for an active dispute or investigation, or necessary to protect someone’s rights. We may retain a minimal suppression record after an opt-out or account restriction.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
Juicepage may use:
● essential cookies needed for security, login, payment, preferences and core website functions
● non-essential analytics or other cookies, where enabled
Where consent is legally required, non-essential cookies will not be placed until you make a choice. You can change your choice through the cookie settings made available on the website. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the service from working.
Further details should be provided in Juicepage’s cookie notice or cookie-settings panel, including the names, providers, purposes and lifetimes of the cookies actually in use.
11. Moderation and automated controls
Juicepage may use automated tools to detect spam, enforce rate limits, prevent duplicate reports or temporarily hide content after reports reach a configured threshold. These controls support moderation and website security.
Automated controls can make mistakes. You can ask for a moderation decision to be reviewed by contacting support@juicepage.org. Juicepage does not intend to make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you solely through automated processing.
12. Children
Juicepage is not restricted to adults, and writing samples may be read by children. However:
● anyone under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian before creating an account, submitting work or making a payment
● children under 13 must not create an account, upload work, make a payment or post a comment unless Juicepage has obtained or verified the consent of a person with parental responsibility
● a parent or guardian may contact support@juicepage.org to ask about, correct or delete a child’s information
Users must not publicly post a child’s personal information without a lawful basis and appropriate permission.
If Juicepage learns that a child’s information has been collected in breach of these requirements, it may restrict the account and delete the information.
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information. These may include access controls, software updates, encrypted connections, backups, logging, spam controls and restricted administrative access.
No online service can guarantee complete security. You are responsible for using a strong, unique password and keeping your login details confidential.
14. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:
● ask for a copy of your personal information
● ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
● ask us to delete information
● ask us to restrict how information is used
● object to processing based on legitimate interests
● receive certain information in a portable format
● withdraw consent
● complain about how we use your information
These rights are not absolute. For example, we may need to retain information to comply with law, complete a contract, protect freedom of expression or deal with legal claims.

You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.
15. Third-party links
Juicepage may contain links to websites and services operated by other people. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Juicepage is not responsible for those practices.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the service, suppliers or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page with its effective date. If a change materially affects how we use existing personal information, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
