Terms and conditions

1. About these terms

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of juicepage.org and the services provided through it.

Juicepage allows people to publish samples of their writing, make samples available to readers, receive feedback and participate in comments. Some services, including submitting a sample for publication, may require payment.

By using Juicepage, creating an account, submitting content, posting a comment or purchasing a service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the relevant service.

Contact: support@juicepage.org

2. Who may use Juicepage

You may browse publicly available content without an account.

If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian before creating an account, submitting content or making a payment. The person providing payment must authorise its use.

If you are under 13, you must not create an account, submit content, make a payment or post comments unless Juicepage has obtained or verified consent from a person with parental responsibility.

By creating an account, submitting content or making a payment, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate information and keep it reasonably up to date. You are responsible for:

● keeping your password and login details secure

● activity carried out through your account, unless caused by Juicepage’s failure to use reasonable care

● telling us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised

You must not impersonate another person, create accounts to evade restrictions or allow an account to be used unlawfully.

4. Submitting work

When submitting work, you must provide the information and files requested in the submission form. You must check the submission before completing payment.

By submitting work, you confirm that:

● you own the work and associated images, or have all permissions needed to submit and publish them

● the work is not plagiarised and its publication will not infringe copyright, trademarks, privacy, confidentiality or any other rights

● the work does not contain unlawful material

● the information you provide is accurate and not misleading

● you have obtained any permissions needed for personal information about other people contained in the work

● you accept these Terms and Conditions

Juicepage may record the date, time, IP address and version of the terms associated with your confirmation.

You remain responsible for your content. Payment, acceptance or publication by Juicepage does not mean that Juicepage has verified ownership, legality, accuracy, safety or quality.

5. Content that is not allowed

You must not submit, publish, link to or use Juicepage to distribute content that:

● is unlawful or encourages unlawful activity

● infringes copyright, trademarks, privacy, confidentiality or other rights

● contains credible threats, targeted harassment or material intended to facilitate violence

● contains child sexual abuse material or sexually exploits a child

● unlawfully depicts, promotes or facilitates terrorism

● is defamatory

● contains malicious code, malware or deceptive files

● is spam, fraudulent, impersonating or materially misleading

● exposes private personal information without a lawful basis

material that encourages, promotes or instructs suicide, serious self-harm or eating disorders

pornographic images, illustrations, audio or video

● is submitted mainly to abuse, disrupt or manipulate Juicepage or its users

Fictional, artistic, controversial or offensive subject matter is not automatically prohibited. Context, legality, the rights of others and the risk of harm will be considered.

6. Licence you give Juicepage

You keep ownership of your content.

When you submit content, you give Juicepage a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, convert, display, distribute and make the content available through Juicepage. This licence includes the technical rights reasonably needed to:

● create and display a listing or sample page

● allow users to view or download the sample

● resize or format cover images

● create backups and cached copies

● promote the submitted sample or Juicepage using the title, cover, author name, description and reasonable extracts

The licence lasts while the content is available through Juicepage and for a reasonable period afterwards for backups, legal records and material already used in legitimate promotion. Juicepage will not acquire ownership of your copyright through this licence.

You may remove your sample through your account or ask us to stop publishing your sample by contacting support@juicepage.org. Removal does not affect copies already lawfully downloaded or uses made before removal.

7. Copyright notice and permitted use

Unless the relevant author gives additional permission, samples made available through Juicepage are for personal, non-commercial reading and feedback only.

Downloading or accessing a sample does not transfer copyright or allow a user to:

● republish, redistribute or resell it

● upload it elsewhere

● alter or remove copyright notices

● use it commercially

● claim it as their own

Copyright remains with the author or other rights holder.

8. Submission fees and payment

The submission fee and everything included in the service will be shown before payment. Unless stated otherwise, the current submission fee is £5 per sample and includes applicable taxes.

Payment is processed through the payment method offered at checkout. A submission is not treated as paid until payment is confirmed.

The submission fee pays for the submission and publication service. It is not:

● a purchase of copyright

● a guarantee of readership, downloads, comments, feedback, promotion, sales or any particular result

● a guarantee that content will remain published if it breaches these terms or the law

We will provide confirmation of the transaction in a form you can retain.

9. Publication

Juicepage may publish a paid submission automatically or place it into a moderation queue. Publication times are estimates unless we expressly agree otherwise.

Juicepage may make proportionate editorial or technical changes needed to display a submission, such as formatting metadata or resizing an image. We will not intentionally make substantive changes to the writing without permission.

We may reject, delay, unpublish, restrict or remove content where we reasonably believe that:

● it breaches these terms or the law

● a payment has failed, been reversed or appears fraudulent

● it creates a security or operational risk

● a credible rights complaint or legal request requires investigation

● necessary information or permissions are missing

Where reasonable, we will explain the decision and allow you to respond. Immediate action may be taken where needed to prevent harm, protect rights, secure the service or comply with law.

10. Cancellation and refunds

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

If you are a consumer, you will normally have 14 days from the day after the contract is made to cancel an online service. If you ask Juicepage to begin the submission and publication service during that period:

● you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for the service supplied before cancellation

● once the service has been fully performed, you will lose the right to cancel only if you expressly requested early performance and acknowledged that the cancellation right would be lost on full performance

Juicepage must obtain the required express request and acknowledgement during checkout. These terms alone do not replace that checkout confirmation.

If you cancel before the service begins, we will refund the submission fee. If Juicepage has begun but not completed the service at your express request, any refund may be reduced by a proportionate amount for work already supplied. If the service has been fully performed following the required acknowledgement, there may be no cooling-off right.

You may also be entitled to a repeat performance, price reduction or refund if the paid service is not provided with reasonable care and skill or does not match its description.

We will normally refund:

● duplicate payments

● payments taken where Juicepage cannot provide the purchased service

● amounts required by applicable consumer law

We do not normally refund merely because:

● a published sample receives little or no engagement

● you change your mind after valid completion of the service and loss of the cancellation right

● content is removed because it breaches these terms or because you lacked the necessary rights

To cancel or request a refund, email support@juicepage.org with the email address used, submission title and transaction details.

11. Comments and feedback

Comments represent the views of their authors, not Juicepage.

Feedback may be critical, but users must not post unlawful content, threats, targeted harassment, spam, personal information without justification or material that infringes another person’s rights.

Authors are not entitled to positive feedback or to the removal of lawful criticism merely because they disagree with it. Juicepage may remove or restrict comments where reasonably necessary under these terms.

Do not rely on feedback as professional legal, medical, financial or publishing advice.

12. Reporting content

You can report content or comments using the reporting function or by emailing support@juicepage.org.

A report should identify:

● the content and its location

● the reason for the report

● any rights you say are affected

● enough information for us to assess and, where necessary, respond to the report

Copyright or other legal complaints should include the complainant’s identity, contact details, basis of the claim and a good-faith statement that the information supplied is accurate.

You must not knowingly make a false, abusive or misleading report.

Juicepage may temporarily hide reported material while reviewing it. Reaching a report threshold does not by itself establish that content is unlawful. We may seek information from the uploader and disclose the substance of a complaint where reasonably necessary and lawful.

13. Moderation and enforcement

Juicepage may use human review and automated controls to detect spam, rate-limit activity, prevent duplicate reports or temporarily hide material.

We may issue a warning, restrict features, remove content, suspend or close an account, or block access where this is reasonable and proportionate. In deciding what to do, we may consider severity, context, risk, repeated behaviour, legal obligations and previous action.

You may request a review by emailing support@juicepage.org. A request for review does not require us to restore content while the review takes place.

14. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Juicepage available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. We may suspend parts of the service for maintenance, security, legal or operational reasons.

We may change or discontinue features. If a change materially affects a paid service you have already purchased, we will provide the service as agreed or an appropriate remedy.

You are responsible for retaining your own original and backup copies of submitted work. Juicepage is not a permanent archive.

15. Third-party services and links

Juicepage may use or link to third-party services, including payment services. Third parties may have their own terms and privacy policies.

Juicepage is not responsible for third-party websites or services it does not control. This does not exclude responsibility that cannot legally be excluded.

16. Our responsibility to you

Juicepage does not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for:

● death or personal injury caused by negligence

● fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation

● breach of rights that cannot legally be excluded

If you are a consumer, Juicepage is responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of its breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. Juicepage is not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, were caused by information or content supplied by someone else, or result from your breach of these terms.

Juicepage is supplied for personal use unless we agree otherwise. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for business losses such as lost profits, lost opportunity, lost data or business interruption.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

17. Your responsibility

You are responsible for claims, losses or reasonable costs suffered by Juicepage as a direct and foreseeable result of your unlawful content, infringement of another person’s rights, fraudulent activity or deliberate breach of these terms.

This section does not require a consumer to compensate Juicepage for losses caused by Juicepage or for amounts that would be unfair or unlawful.

18. Ending your account

You may stop using Juicepage by deleting your account or by emailing a request for your account to be deleted to support@juicepage.org.

Closing an account does not automatically:

● cancel a completed submission service

● require deletion of information that must be retained

● remove copies previously downloaded by others

● end provisions that are intended to continue, including provisions about ownership, licences already exercised, liability, disputes and legal records

We may suspend or terminate an account in accordance with the moderation and enforcement section.

19. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service, law, security requirements or business operations.

The updated version will be published with a new effective date. Material changes will not retrospectively remove rights in a paid service already purchased. Where appropriate, we will give registered users notice of significant changes.

20. Transfer of these terms

Juicepage may transfer its rights and obligations under these terms as part of a sale, transfer or restructuring of the service, provided this does not reduce your consumer rights.

You may not transfer your account or your rights under a paid service to another person without our agreement, except where the law gives you that right.

21. Severability and waiver

If a court finds part of these terms unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

If Juicepage does not enforce a provision immediately, it may still enforce it later.

22. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law applicable in the part of the United Kingdom in which Juicepage is established.

If you are a consumer, you retain any mandatory right to bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where you live.

Please contact support@juicepage.org first so that we can try to resolve a complaint.

23. Contact

Questions, complaints, cancellation notices and legal notices may be sent to support@juicepage.org.
